Staffordshire Man in Trouble at Denaby

Peter Burn, one of the new hands employed at Denaby pit was brought up in custody on charges of being drunk and disorderly, and assaulting police constable Kendall and Danby on the 10th inst at Denaby.

Prisoner had created a disturbance in the street about 4 o’clock in the afternoon. He was also under the influence of drink, and the officer spoke to him about his conduct.

He became very violent, and struck and kicked them.

Superintendent Hammond said, in reply to the magistrates, that the prisoner was one of the new hands from Staffordshire employed at Denaby pit

Prisoner was fined 20s and costs, or one months imprisonment
