One Goal Decides
Hare’s Fine Effort

Conisborough Middle School 1 Denaby St Albans 0

Conisborough Middle School won the Denaby United Supporters Schools Cup for the second time by defeating the local rivals, Denaby St Albans, by an odd goal scored after five minutes by Hare from a centre well-placed by Warren. Hare was unable to play in the previous encounter, the Yorkshire Shield final and for Yorkshire against Durham owing to knee trouble, and had to leave the field soon after he scored the goal and did not take any further part in the game. It was a game well worth going a long way to see.

Although Conisbrough and the wind be behind their backs in the first of they were unable to get the ball anywhere near Denaby’s goal. The only chance they had they took. Warren drop the ball into the centre over the heads of the defence and Hare just touched it into the net.

With only 10 players Conisbrough had their backs to the wall in the second half. Denaby were attacking in full force, Singleton in goal bringing off some remarkable saves from difficult angles. Twice Harris fell back on the line to clear long shots, and Barnes and Whitehead worked hard under full pressure. The last six minutes was in Conisborough’s favour, but although they reach the goal area they failed to add to their score.

The cup was presented to Harris, captain of the Middle School, by Mr J.T. Asher, vice-chairman of the Supporters Club.
