The Lodger’s Suit
Illegal Pawning at Denaby.

Kate Dooney, married woman, of Denbay, was charged at Doncaster, on Tuesday, with illegally pawning a suit belonging to Charles Gannon, a miner, who had lodged at defendant’s house.

He left the suit at the house because he took no luggage with him when he left.

Defendant had since pawned it. He sent a boy to the house for the suit, and the boy brought back a pawn ticket.

Albert Liversidge, pawnbroker, Conisbrough, said defendant pawned the suit for 30s.

Defendant said the man owed her money. She did not pawn the suit.

The magistrates fined her £2 and costs.
