On June 22, the degree of bachelor of arts was conferred at Lampeter College on 24 year old Mr Gordon Lambert, Elder son of Mr and Mrs H. W. Lambert of 70 Tickhill Street, Denaby Main. Today (Friday) he goes to Oxford to commence his training in theology for two years after which he helps to be ordained a minister in the Church of England.

Educated at the Rossington Street Jr School and Mexborough Grammar School, Mr Lambert has always shown a keen interest in Denaby Parish Church. Before going to college, he was an active member of the church council, a Sunday schoolteacher and a sidesman. During his two-year service with the Royal Air Force, he was corporal in charge at the Station Medical Center. Gloria

He was also a member of the Denaby Corps of the St John Ambulance Brigade, of which his father is cadet superintendent. His sisters, Shirley, who is a state registered nurse on the staff are Denaby Fullerton hospital, Mary (15), a student at Mexborough Grammar School. And Christine (nine) have also been associated with S. J. A. B. Mrs Lambert is a state registered nurse and a state certified midwife. Gordon’s younger brother. David is at present stationed in Malta with the R. A. F. a keen cross country runner, Gordon as well as captaining the Lampeter College cross-country team, was awarded the cross-country trophy on two consecutive occasions. During his training at Oxford, Gordon helps to gain the degree of bachelor of Divinity.
