Third Time Twice
Coun. R. H. Shephard, president of Denaby Main N.U.M. branch, former secretary-manager of Denaby Utd. and one-time Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper, was unanimously elected chairman of Conis-brough Urban Council on Wednesday for the ensuing year. It will be his third year of office as Conisbrough’s chief citizen.
World War I hero and World War II Home Guard officer, Coun. G. Oldfield, was unanimously elected vice-chairman. He said that he had twice before been chairman and this was his third Period as vice-chairman.
Civic Sunday will be held this year at Denaby Parish Church, Coun. Shephard announced. Arrangements were left with the Vicar of Denaby (the Rev. M. Clarke) and the Clerk (Mr. R. W. Birch).
