The funeral took place on Friday at the Mexborough Cemetery, the Rev. W. H.F. Bateman officiating.

The mourners were :- Mrs. Thompson ( widow ), Mrs. Nettleship ( daughter ), Miss Elsie Thompson and Miss Ethel Thompson ( daughters ), Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf ( Middletown ), Mr. and Mrs. Lomas ( Wombwell ), Mr. and Mrs. Wallwork from (Manchester),Mr. and Mrs. Thompson ( Wombwell ), Mrs. J. Fairhurst ( Wombwell ) Mr. S. Fairhurst ( Worsborough Dale ), Miss Annie Lomas and Miss J. Richardson ( Wombwell ), Mrs. E. Brown, Miss T. Ellis ( Mexborough ).

The bearers were – Messrs. C. Wotton, J. Chadbourne, J. Reynolds, H. Platts, J. Landale, and W. Crowther.
