Tramps Death in a Culvert
 Pathetic Case at Mexborough’

At Mexborough, Mr. J. Parker, pity coroner held an inquest on the body of William Sherburne, aged 67 who was found dead the previous day in a culvert under the road between Mexborough and Denaby.

The evidence went to show that the man had lived at the Doncaster Workouts and the Mexborough lodging-houses.

Dr. Harvey’s post-mortem revealed the fact that death due to heart disease, accelerated by the want of food.

Clement Brown, a pit boy. said he noticed the body lying in the drain on Tuesday afternoon and thought the man was so that it was not until the following day when saw the body  in exactly the same position, that he gave information to the police.
