Violent Prisoner
William Howard Butler. Denaby, charge with having been drunk and disorderly at Denaby, and with having assaulted Police-constable Taylor, on December 11.
As prisoner was drunk and disorderly, officer took him into custody, whereupon he became violent, and severely assaulted the constable.
The officer obtain assistance, and two officers to use very considerable force to get the man to the station.
Taylor was very much exhausted and his clothes were covered with mud.
Prisoner was fined 5s. including costs for being drunk, and 40s. including costs, or a month in default, for the assault.
