W. H. Chambers resigns from Doncaster Rural District Council
At Saturday´s meeting of the Doncaster Rural District Council a letter was read from Mr. W.H.Chambers resigning his position on the Council, giving, as his reasons that he was going to reside outside the councils area, that his age compelled to relieve himself of some of his public works, and his defective hearing, which precluded him from following the discussions fully.
He had been a member of the Council for 38 years, since the commencement, and was a member of the old sanitary authority.
Mr W Appleyard moved they accept the resignation with regret. Mr Chambers had been a very valuable member, having occupied all important positions, and had always carried out his duties in a businesslike manner.
Canon Rolfe said Mr Chambers had his self assertive style as well as any one of them, and he always felt he was a strong man
Mr Tom Hill, a Labour member from Conisbrough, said as a friendly opponent of Mr Chambers he could endorse what had been said. Mr Chambers always place all its cards on the table, and what every day for Denaby. He did it sincerely and for the best.
