Denaby Family´s Fine Record

There is no prouder record of a family´s patriotism than other family of Sapper Wagstaff, of 9 Cusworth Street, Denaby main.

If every family realise their sense of duty and followed the example of the Wagstaff family there would be little need of tribunal’s, and less heard of conscientious objectors.

The father of the family set the example, and is now employed in the dangerous duties of a Sapper. Every one of his five sons have served, and the names and regiments are:

Private Richard Wagstaff (Yorks and Lancs)

Private W Wagstaff (K.O.Y.L.I.)

Private Sam Wagstaff (K.O.Y.L.I.)

Tunneller John Wagstaff

The fifth son is Private T.H.Wagstaff, who has given his life for his country’s cause.

News has been received this week that he was killed in France on 18 February
