Plans Taking Shape

Preparations for Big United Effort Plans are beginning to take shape for a Don and Dearne War Weapons Week to be held from February 22nd to March 1st.

It is hoped to make the effort fully representative and to that end an invitation, which has been accepted, has been extended to the Dearne Urban District to co-operate.

The inclusion of Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe and Bolton-on-Dearne will complete an admirable united front and consolidate the civic forces of the Don and Dearne Valleys in a joint effort which should achieve a really worth-while result. The original aim of the Mexborough, Swinton, Wath and Conisborough areas was to raise a minimum of £250,000, but an even larger target should be attainable with five urban areas working together.

This is an effort which includes every resident from the highest to the lowest in the districts concerned. Only by every individual from wage earner to industrialist interesting himself in a personal way in its success can the fullest result be assured. No possible source of income should be left untried. Particularly great is the responsibility of members of the various personal contacts committees whose individual efforts to enlist the support of the principal industrial undertakings can go far towards making possible the attainment of the goal.
