There was a large assembly at the Parish Church, Denaby on Saturday to witness the marriage of Miss Elizabeth Baines ,the only daughter of Mr Stephen Baines and the late Mrs. Baines, of 23.the Green Lane Conisbrough, to Mr. Thomas Wilkes, the eldest of of Mr. and Mrs. Job Wilkes, of 16, Marr Street, Denaby Main.

The altar was decorated with white lilac and daffodils and the organist was Mr. Percy Webb. The choir attended and sang “Lead us heavenly Father,”0 Perfect Love”and “Now Thank we all our God” and the psalm 67.

Soloist was Harry Turner. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Maurice Clarke Rector of Eastrington, and the Rev. A. V. Roebuck, (Vicar), also assisted. Given away by her uncle, Mr. Fred Wheatley, the bride wore a neat gown of white figured brocade with lace neck line and a veil and headdress and carried red roses. In attendance were Miss Rose Moore and Miss Anne Lockwood, both wearing dresses cof peach moss crepe with orchid addresses and bouquets of anemones.
