Wedding Party Flew From the Hebrides
When Conisbrough born Mr. John Saxton wanted to book the only hotel on the island of North Uist, in the Outer Hebrides, for his wedding reception, he found it fully booked up by tourists.
So the wedding party travelled by plane and steamer to Inverness where the wedding of Mr. Saxton, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Saxton, of 2, St. David’s Road, Conisbrough, and Miss Margaret Macdonald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Macdonald, of Lochmaddy North Ulst, Outer Hebrides, took place recently.
Explained John’s mother, Mrs. Annie Saxton this week,
“Normally the Hebrides is quiet, but John’s wedding coincided with the arrival of a large party of took over the island’s only hotel.
“The bride’s relatives live in Inverness so the wedding was arranged for there. Even the priest, a friend of the bride’s family, flew over from the Isle of Skye to officiate,” she said.
John met his bride while serving with the Royal Signals in North Uist. After the wedding they flew to Switzerland where they are spending their honeymoon.
