Wesleyan Chapel – Choir and New Organist

The congregations at the Wesleyan Chapel on Sunday were very pleased indeed to see the usual organist and a full choir in their accustomed places. The services were very hearty as a consequence. I do not think it likely there will be any more friction just yet. The majority of the trustees and the gentlemen who represented the congregation on the inquiry committee recognise the justice of the united action of the choristers and organist.

I have been surprised that, in so otherwise beautiful a sanctuary, an improved organ has not been provided. Indeed there was talk of this some time ago, and one prominent member of the congregation suggested that about £500 should be expended.

However, matters will doubtless proceed as at present for awhile. Then, when all feeling of irritation has died away, perhaps some generous friend will come forward with a good donation in the interests of better instrumental accompaniment to sacred song. And the day surely is not far distant when, from the church funds, instead of from the pockets of the organist and choir members, the necessary funds will be forthcoming for the music
