Whitsuntide Festivities.

Old Denaby.

The teachers and Sunday school scholars attending S. John Baptist Church, Old Denaby, had their annual treat on Whit-Monday afternoon.

Through the kindness of the Rev. G. Fullerton, M.A., the children had access to the park at Thrybergh. The inclemency of the weather somewhat marred the pleasure of the visitors and prevented the children from having many of their favourite games.

Tea was served to the visitors in the avenue, near the church, which was a convenient shelter from the rain. Through the kindness of Dr. Swithinbank, the teachers and friends were admitted to the hall and gardens, which afforded them much pleasure.

The children on returning home assembled in front of the hall and sang several hymns. The Rev. T. Horsfall addressed the children and asked them to accord the squire three cheers for his kindness in admitting them into the grounds, and a similar compliment was paid to Dr, Swithinbank, Mr. Cranidge, Mrs. Turtle, and other helpers.

The children were driven home in the waggons, which were generously lent by the churchwarden, Mr. Cranidge and Mr. Parkin, of Old Denaby.
