Wounded Boat Horse

James Ayrton, boathauler, Mexboro’, did not appear to answer a charge of cruelty to a horse at Conisboro’.

P.s. Ramsey and P.c. Middleton were on duty at Conisboro’ Locks on the 30th ult., when they saw defendant working a brown cart mare on the towing path. The mare had the appearance of sore shoulders, and was found to have a large wound at the bottom of its neck, from which matter and blood were oozing. The collar had been cut.

Otherwise the animal was in fair working condition.

A fine of 10/- and costs was imposed.
