Yet another Win For Joyce

Tommy Joyce, the Denaby welterweight won through to the North Eastern Counties finals when he beat G. Sweaton of Hull in the semi finals of the competition at Hull on Tuesday.

Another member of the club, J. Rushton received a walkover and so he will join Tommy in the finals.

Roger Oldis was not quite so successful. He was beaten on points by M. Murray of Hull.

New ‘Champ’

Paul Kelly is the new champion of the Yorkshire Schoolboy Intermediate 7st. 12lbs. class. He became champion by beating L. Wood of Wakefield who had been the champion for the two previous years.

In his performance, Kelly showed remarkable calmness and was strong enough to beat off the former champion, who fought desperately to retain his title. Paul won the match on a well earned points decision.

Steve Johnson who had been fighting off a weight problem, was far from disgraced when he was narrowly beaten by Harrison, of Hull.
