Another Serious Accident at Denaby Main Colliery

on Saturday afternoon a dataller employed at the above colliery, named Richard Stubbs was seriously crushed whilst leading a pony drawing some corves in the East Plane.

Stubbs work is to look after the roads and keep them in good repair, but Saturday being New Years day, the pony drivers, in accordance with their usual custom, did not come to work, and Stubbs acted as a driver.

Whilst doing so his lamp went out, and he neglected to put any lockers on his corves. They got loose and knocked him down, crushing him badly.

Two men name Sevens, who were working near, saw him shortly after the accident, and the poor fellow was taken to his home in Cliff View, Denaby, when it was found he was badly crushed about the breast.

He now lies in a precarious position.
