Coronation Arrangements

April 1937

At the Conisborough Urban Council meeting Mr H Gomersall reported the following arrangements made by the local Coronation committee for the Coronation on May 12th:

Provision of Coronation mugs for all children;

Teas, sports and games for children on Coronation Day;

Free cinema entertainment for children showing Coronation procession;

Torchlight procession and fireworks on the Crags;

Variety entertainment with proceeds to charity;

Teas for old folks and widows;

Dinner for unemployed;

Organisational of boots fund for necessitous children;

Procession for decorated cars and turnout with prizes;

Illumination of Council offices and park;

Street decorations with plaques for best six streets
