Death and funeral of Mr George Smith of Conisborough

We regret to record the death of the above named gentlemen a well-known and respected resident of Conisborough, who was born at Clifton, and lived at Conisborough over 60 years.

The deceased was the landlord of the Station Inn for some years, which was built for and occupied by his wife’s parents.

He left the house in 1883, and he resided at Conisborough ever since.

On Christmas Day, as was his usual custom, he visited his son’s house for the day, where he was taken ill and had a stroke, for which he never rallied, and died at his son’s house on Monday.

The funeral took place on Thursday at Conisborough churchyard, when a large number of friends attended, including his old friend, Mr Guest.
