Fatal Accident at Denaby Main

Yesterday an accident occurred at the Denaby Main colliery, which resulted in the death of Samuel Thomas, aged 22, trimmer, residing at Melton View, near Denaby.

He was working with his mate in the “West Jinny” district of the mine. The deceased and his mate had gone to the past by with their tools, when a fall of debris came down, completely burying them.

Sometime elapsed before they were extricated, when Thomas was found to have been suffocated.
