Spitting in the Police Court

David Willey, miner, of Denaby, was fined 2s 6d and the costs for expectorating on the floor of the Doncaster police court on Saturday morning. March 20

It was stated that defendant was sitting in the back of the public gallery of the court, and he was noticed to spit on the floor many times.

When spoken to and his attention drawn to a notice on the wall explaining the prohibition of spitting, he replied, “I cannot read”
