Denaby and Cadeby 150 for 3     Doncaster LNER 145

Doncaster Plant suffered their second defeat at the hands of Denaby Main on Saturday, on the Denaby ground, and Denaby achieved a seventh consecutive victory, out of eight matches played in the Yorkshire Council. Denaby have only twice been defeated the season – their opening match at Frickley, and in an evening league game at Kilnhurst.

On Saturday Doncaster batted first on an easy wicket and opened slowly. At length however, Green opened out at Higgins and after hitting him to the boundary lifted him into Tickhill square, breaking a window. Emery was the 1st to go, bowled by Worthington, and at 25 Kennedy came on for Higgins and got Green caught at extra cover. Ibbotson and Bailey improved the rate of scoring and knocked Kennedy off, Luther Robinson coming on to get rid of both of them. The pair had put on 56 runs. The remainder of the side made little resistance to the bowling of Robinson and Worthington, the latter being specially deadly.

Greenwood and Vollans {slip and confidently for Denaby. The youngster made 20 in quick time before being caught at the wicket. Wainwright joined Greenwood one got going at his best pace, and the score mounted quickly. Wainwright had made 29 when he was given out lbw, and with Kennedy and Greenwood together the Doncaster bowling was shockingly flogged.

Kennedy was sent back when six runs were wanted for victory, and Tibbles was in at the death, though both batsmen nearly ran each other out. Greenwood had scored an excellent 70 not out at the close.

For Denaby L Robinson had five wickets for 32 and Worthington 4 for 42.
