Booth’s of Conisbrough
Misunderstanding
The managing director of the Conisbrough motor firm made a statement yesterday (Thursday) about the future of his company.
Mr. H. Booth, managing director of Booth’s of Conisbrough, claimed that recent press reports on the re-development of Conisbrough, may have been misunderstood by the public.
He told the ‘South Yorkshire Times’, ‘I would like to make it clear that we are continuing in business in Conisbrough, and developing on our own in the village’. The misunderstandings have apparently arisen from quotations from the Conisbrough U.D.C. minutes included in a report on current development proposals in Conisbrough, published in the ‘South Yorkshire Times’ on July 24th. Quoting the Conisbrough Urban Council Housing Committee minutes almost word for word, the article referred to a development company’s interests in acquiring the sale of Mr. Booth’s garage’, at the corner of Church Street, Conisbrough.
Still quoting the minutes, the article went on to say that the Council had been unable to suggest a suitable alternative site for Mr. Booth’s business in or near the town centre.
