Conisborough
Remembrance Day was honoured in Conisborough on Sunday in much the same form as in previous years. A parade assembled at Brooks Square and March via Sheffield Road, Park Road, West Street, and high Street to the church.
It was headed by the S.J.A.Band. In the procession were members of the British Legion, Conisborough Division of the S.J.J.B., under Superintendent Charles Farrell, the Nursing Sisters and representatives of boys organisation and friendly societies.
At the parish church the lesson was read by the reverent T.T.Croft, and the vicar, the Rev W.J.T.Pascoe preached the sermon.
After the organist hard played Chopin’s Funeral March the parade reassembled, and headed by the church choir, marched to Coronation Park, where the service was held. The last Post and the reveille were sounded and wreaths were laid on the war memorial.
At the Recreation Hall and Institute on Monday the usual Armistice Day service was held. The reverent B.T.Croft conducted a service and a string quartet provided appropriate music.
A wreath was laid on the war memorial.
