Denaby and Cadeby 116 for 6     Wombwell Main 110

At Denaby on Saturday, the visitors commenced well, the three brothers Holmes helping the score along considerably, while Kaye also was responsible for some useful batting, having scored 19 not out at the close of the innings. George Hardy was first-rate, and he met with immediate success, sending back Sykes, Douglas Holmes and W Thompson in quick succession. Afterward, however, he was somewhat severely punished, his three wickets costing 33 runs. Arthur Robinson took up the attack at the fall of the sixth wicket, and he quickly finished of the innings, claiming two wickets in his first three balls, and at the conclusion being credited with the splendid figures of four wickets for seven runs.

For Denaby W Smith Jr (40), A Robinson (19) and P Bury (33 not out) were largely responsible for an easy six wicket victory, the innings of Smith in particular being quite up to that fine batsmen’s usual standard.
