Denaby Notes
Denaby is at last becoming more like other villages, and the name which it once had, that it was one of the worst villages in England, which some people were never tired of repeating, is a thing of the past, and it has now settled itself down to lead a more righteous and sober life, and to prove this with the knowledge that we can go there was not a single case from Denaby or New Conisborough to be heard at the local Police Court.
This is I think, a thing to be approved, and a continuance of the same will be hailed with delight by a good number of its inhabitants, for there is at the present time any number of institutions etc in which the men can take an interest, and be all the better for it.
The chief one is the Institute and Reading room where a man can go any time during the day or night and spend a delightful hour or two in either improved is mine by perusal of the books of the, which are to be found, or enjoying a hand in the various games allotted thereto.
Then we have the Ambulance Brigade, where a man can receive any amount of knowledge, which will be useful, but only for himself, but to others; if the time should arrive you will be able to alleviate the suffering of others.
Then we have the Rifle Club, which is at present time extending a hearty welcome to all the young men of the district to join, and to make themselves acquainted with the use of the rifle, so that when the time comes (which I hope is not far distant) we may be ready to respond to the call to defend our shores.
