Killed At Denaby Colliery.
Yesterday a youth named Smith, about 17 years of age, was accidentally killed whilst following his employment at the Denaby Main Colliery.
He lived with his widowed mother in Adwick Road, Mexborough.

Denaby Pit Lad’s Death
On Saturday, at Mexborough, at an inquest held by Mr. D. Wightman concerning the death of the Mexborough youth, Charles Smith, who was killed at a the Denaby Colliery on Thursday, a verdict of “Accidental death” was returned.
From the evidence it appeared that deceased brought down a full train of tubs through the passway.
Twenty minutes later another lad named Charles Willoughby heard a noise, and found Smith under a tub. When released he was dead. He had been riding on one of the tubs.
A deputy said that deceased was one of the best boys in the pit, and had never been, reported for any offence.
