Denaby Player’s Benefit Match.

Denaby Player’s Benefit Match.

Nimrod, Denaby’s sturdy little right half-back, enjoyed a well-earned benefit yesterday afternoon.

The Denaby team were pitted against a district eleven, which included Harrop (of Liverpool), Bramall and Murphy (Doncaster Rovers), Ryalls (Rotherham Town), Westwood (Rotherham County), and Biggs (Mexborough).

There was a good attendance, and play throughout was very interesting. In the first half, although Denaby did most of the attacking, they failed to score, while the net was found by Linacre, Bramall, and Murphy, but Wilmott should have saved on two occasions.

The second half saw play open vigorously, and Denaby quickly decreased the lead through Moseley on two occasions. Bramall scored again, and just before the close a surprise shot from Westwood found the net.

Result: District XI  5 Denaby United 2
