Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Friday 20 March 1908

Denaby United 4 Grantham Avenue 0

At Denaby before 1,200 spectators.

Denaby had Marshall, Nimrod and Speight back the team, which was at full strength.

The visitors played pluckily, but were clearly no match for their opponents, who, however, could not break down the defence until nearly half-time, when Ball got through for Denaby, who led the interval by 1 0.

Denaby restarted with strong attack, and Dixon had a, scorching shot to save in the first minute. Denaby continued to press, and Dyal scored.

Grantham were practically penned in their own half, and rarely broke away. Several fruitless corners fell to the home team, who from now to the end displayed irresistible form, shooting hard and often Nimrod got the third goal with fine shot, and Pynegar put on a fourth from a centre Blackburn.

Result:—- Denaby United 4 goals. Grantham Avenue 0 goal
