Mexboro’s First Defeat.
Denaby Win Easily.

Mexboro’ were sorely handicapped on Tuesday in the return fixture with Denaby. W. P. Turner, Hague, W. Brown, Hewitt, and Thirkell were all away. Indeed it seemed hardly possible to recognise the team as representing Nexbore A good deal of interest was invested in the match., and a gate representing nearly £10, served as some consolation to Mexboro’ for the initial defeat sustained.
Batting first, Mexborough fared badly after the dismissal of Hakin (20) and Bayes (13), each of whom reached double figures. Vernon, Denaby’s latest acquisition, was the destroyer, He bowled finely, varying his pace and pitch admirably. We understand he is really a, Swinton man, and some years ago played occasionally for Swinton club. He was too good for Mexboro’ on, Tuesday, and captured seven victims for 39 runs. Luther Robinson also bowled well, taking three wickets for 29.
It was realised that Mexborough’s total of 71 was insufficient, and there appeared no reason. to doubt why Denaby should not wilt-comfortably. And this they did, after receiving a rude shook in the early stages„ the first four wickets falling for 18.
Then P. Bury and Luther Robinson became associated, and the runs were rubbed off with gratifying ease. Both batted splendidly, the Mexborough attack being sadly depleted by the absence of W. Brown. P. Bury carried out his bat for a brilliant 50 not out, which included several crisp its, while Luther Robinson innings of 39 was his best this season.
