Dust In His Eye.
Denaby Motor-Cyclist who did not Stop.
That some dust blew into his eye, causing him to be unable to see the officer’s signal was the plea, of John Stokes, a youthful glass-hand, of Denaby, when summoned at Doncaster on Saturday for driving a motorcycle and failing to stop when requested by a Police constable in uniform.
P.-c. Britton said he was on duty on the Great North Road at Woodlands at 2.30 p.m on Sunday, June 3rd, when he saw the defendant driving a motor-cycle in the direction of Doncaster. He signalled Stokes to stop when he was 20 yards away, but he failed to stop until he had gone 15 yards past witness.
When asked why he did not stop, the defendant said some dust had got in his eye.
The defendant was fined 10 s (50p)
