Farewell and Thanks
Tribute to Conisbrough Hospital Staff

medical nursing and administrative staff at Conisbrough Isolation Hospital on Wednesday received from Doncaster and Mexborough Joint Hospital Board, at the Board’s final meeting before the institution is taken over under the National Health Service, the Board’s warmest thanks and appreciation for their manifold services.

Vice chairman, Mrs E Tait, J.P.(Edlington) said that perhaps that would be the very last meeting of the Board as they knew it, and the least they could do was to say to the medical Superintendent (Doctor WJ McClure), the Clerk (Mr R Bowers) and the Assistant Clerk (Mr B Meldrum) how much they appreciated all they had done.

They had held the Boarding under the ways they thank the Matron (Miss a Symington), the Assistant matron (Miss M Sargan) and all the staff or their assistance. They had done everything to ease the work of the Board. Through the guidance and counsel of their official of the Board were leaving the Hospital financially and economically secure.

Chairman, County Councillor, B Roberts, J.P.(Conisbrough) seconded and added a word of thanks to the Press. He said the Board had enjoyed all their meetings at the hospital.

Councillor G Oldfield (Conisbrough) said the hospital had a really good stop and Councillor J.a stop White (Mexborough) offered thanks on behalf of Mexborough and himself. He wished Doctor McClure health and happiness.

Councillor J.R.Scott (Barnburgh) also paid his tribute, and replying on behalf of his colleagues, Doctor McClure who has had a 40 year association with the hospital, said they knew that in everything reasonable they always add the Board behind them. They had had plans to make the Hospital thoroughly up to date, but owing to the war these plans had to be scrapped and now the war was over the Hospital was being taken over by the new authority.

At the conclusion of the meeting county council Mr S.E.Keers (Bentley), on behalf of Bentley Labour Party, presented the hospital as an instrument table in memory of Councillor Mrs M. Ringrose, J.P.

Mrs Keir said that Mrs Ringrose gave most of her life helping other people.

Councillor Mrs M Jackson said that it was a gift which Mrs Ringo’s would have wished, and County Councillor Robert said: “Mrs Ringrose gave her life for others, and we cherish her memory.”
