Mexborough and Swinton Times September 28, 1888
Conisborough Town 4 Eastwood 7
Played at Conisborough on Saturday before a fair number of spectators.
The visitors won the toss and elected kick with the wind and sun at their backs. The ball wasset in motion by the Conisborough centre forward and give and take play was the order of the day for some time, but the home team had some very hard lines.
At half-time the game stood – Eastwood 4 goals Conisborough 2 goals
On the change of ends the game was well contested and the home team appeared to have the best play until Kelly happened an accident in getting “winded.” After this the Conisbroites played pluckily, and at the call of time the game was in Eastwood’s favour by seven goals to 4.
