Ivanhoe School

Conisborough Castle’s association with Sir Walter Scott’s famous book, ” Ivanhoe,” is to be further commemorated at Conisborough by the Board of Education’s approval, announced at to-day’s meeting of Conisborough District Education Committee, of the name, Ivanhoe Infants’ School for the proposed new elementary school for Conisborough.

The divisional clerk, Mr. E. B. Stockdale reported that possession of the major part of the site Old road, Conisborough, purchased from the Conisborough Housing Association Ltd. had now been taken, and that negotiations were proceeding for the purchase of land which would give access to the school from Garden lane.
