New Team Gives Denaby Good Send-off
Frickley Colliery 2 Denaby Utd 3
Denaby United who had such a bad run last season, got a flying start by gaining a surprise win at Frickley with an almost new team.
Denaby gave a clever display, but Frickley lacked a marksman. Apart from a short spell in the second half, they caused little trouble to Gibson, the Denaby goalkeeper.
The stars of a lively Denaby attack were the extreme wingers, Davis and Gibbs. They were responsible for Denaby’s first two goals during an exciting five minutes, in which four goals were scored, midway through the second half, Davis converting two centres from Gibbs. Ardrin scored the other Denaby goal.
