Tom Hill Youth Accept a Challenge
Last week-end 18 boys of the Tom Hill Youth Centre, Denaby, went with members of the committee to Heswell in the Wirral, passing through Liverpool and the Mersey Tunnel, to accept a football challenge thrown out by a Prescot Youth Club.
They did exceptionally well in their two games, beating the Prescot boys by nine clear goals, and Heswall Amateurs 6-3.
The local spectators were impressed by the standard of football shown by the Yorkshire boys, and singled out centre-forward Jack Davies as a boy with a future. He scored six goals against the Prescot team.
Denaby’s hosts expressed a desire that they should visit them again, and it has been arranged to take them again on March 25th.
On Saturday a boxing tournament will be held at the Denaby Centre, commencing at 6-30 p.m.
The leader, Mr. R. H. Simcock, would like to contact any adult who has qualification for fencing and the entre is also desirous of obtaining the services of a competent and qualified person to lead the orchestra.
The leader would also to, to contact any person who is willing to give a short talk on a Sunday evening after 8-0 p.m.
