Mexborough & Swinton Times – Friday 08 August 1890
Notes from Conisborough.
The Conisborough Picnic Society have shown other towns and villages the way to make a pleasant outing. For several years past this society has had an annual trip to Derbyshire to survey the beauties of the Peak country, and last week they had a pleasant excursion, and one that was highly enjoyed by all who had the pleasure of travelling with the members of the society.
A combined drill of the members of the Fire Brigades belonging to Rotherham. Mexborough, and Doncaster will shortly take place at Conisborough. This will be a decided novelty and will draw a good number of spectators.
Unprecedented large numbers of excursionists visited Conisborough on Tuesday. The popularity of the Castle Grounds as a pleasure resort appears to grow.
At the Wesleyan afternoon service on Sunday, Mr. W. S. Tate. of Doncaster, will give a short address.
It has been decided to hold the annual flower show on Saturday, August 23.
