Out of Their Stride
But Denaby Win Through
Denaby United 4 Maltby Main 1
The departure of Happs and Bratley seems to have thrown Denaby United out of their stride and their 4-1 win over Maltby Main on Saturday was not convincing.
Wilkinson and Smith played a good game for Denaby, and kept the Maltby forwards out of shooting range, but the forwards lacked finish. Maltby were quick to recognise and take advantage of their opportunities, and twice Gibson was well beaten by shots that hit the bar.
Denaby took the lead when Gibbs swung across a centre for Shelton to head back to ARDRON, who scored.
Soon after Denaby went further ahead this time Ardron drew the defence to allow BURKINSHAW to score. ARDRON scored Denaby´s third after a solo effort from 20 yards out.
Maltby went all out in the second half for a goal and it came after five minutes when PUGH scored. After this Maltby were unlucky several times, but could not reduce their deficit.
BURKINSHAW added a fourth for Denaby.
