Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Monday 14 March 1921
Worksop Town 4 Denaby United 2
The game at Worksop, where Denaby were the visitors, was too one-sided to be interesting, the home team scoring four times before the interval, and Denaby once. Worksop were superior in every department, and Lilley opened the scoring after five minutes.
Tremelling, whose appearance at centre-forward put life into the home vanguard, added two more goals, and Robinson another.
Richardson reduced the lead before the interval and in the second half Lovell scored.
Worksop missed many openings, and Richardson struck the goal-keeper with a penalty shot. Tremelling was badly injured just before the interval..
The score of 3-0 run up by Halifax Town against Denaby United on the latter’s ground was very flattering to the visitors, who in the, first half of the game were kept penned in their own quarters.
Denaby had no luck, and all their shots went either inches wide or were saved in a superb manner. There was no score at the interval. In the second half Helliwell and Smith (2), the two wingers, scored for Halifax.
Denaby gave a trial to Shuttleworth, a young left winger from Lancashire, who gave a very satisfactory display.
