Killed In Actlon
Leading Stoker Walter Ernest Garner, of R. Trent Terrace. Conisbrough, who was reported missing from H.M. Prince of Wales since Dec. 10th, 1941, is now reported killed in action.
His wife received the sad news on Monday. He had served for ten years in the Navy, seeing much service abroad. He was in at the sinking of the Bismarck and also in the ship when Mr Churchill met the U.S.A. President.
Previously he had served in the “Renown” and the “Rodney.” The last time he was on leave was in June, 1941. He was the only son of Mr. and the late Mrs Garner, 77, Clifton Street. Denaby Main, and had been married four years.
