Bridlington Snuff out Denaby United

Bridlington Trinity have a fine skill of turning every opportunity to the best use. Against Denaby on Saturday they weathered the visitors’ stormy attacks, then scored two good goals to squash Denaby’s championship hopes.

Player-Manager, Harold Sapey, has laid strong foundations for a bright future for the club in only the first season, but now it looks as if their hunt for honours must rest with the League Cup semi-final date with Rawmarsh tomorrow (Saturday).

“I think we will have to be satisfied with a place in the top four of the League now so we will be even more eager to beat Rawmarsh” said Sapey.

When the two clubs met earlier this year Rawmarsh won by two goals in a good close game, but Sapey believes that result can be reversed.

“We went very close last time and hit the woodwork twice. Rawmarsh will have their minds occupied with the League, which they seem to be near to winning, so we think we have a good chance of winning.” he added.

Of Saturday’s match he said: “We did most of the attacking and found ourselves on the wrong end of the score line.”

After conceding a 22nd minute goal, Denaby’s uphill struggle was ended by a second half goal scored after consistent Denaby pressure.
