Denaby Down Again

Denaby United 1  Notts County Reserve 3

Denaby United met with yet another reverse on their own ground. Notts County Reserve winning a moderato game by 3-1.

Denaby, in the early stages flattered but to deceive, for after Notts had taken the lead through the agency of a penalty goal, the home team fell away greatly, and save for a final rally, they were a long way behind Notts in all departments of the game. The Lacemen showed a resoluteness in defence altogether too strong for the disjointed Denaby forwards, of whom Lusher alone played up to form.

Lang and Dodsley are but shadows of their former selves and Goddard, who took the centre position, was not up to the requirements of the position. The halves played fairly well, but the backs and goalkeeper did best. Dawson and Thompson, being responsible for many smart clearances.

There were changes in the Denaby side and the club now located at the bottom of the League has no alternative but to renew experiments which so far have failed to produce the combination hoped for.
