A successful dance was held at the Lord Conyers hotel on New Years Eve as the winding up efforts of the Conisbrough and Denaby Spitfire fund. The crowded ballroom looked very festive decorations and middle to, while an RAF band enlivened the proceedings with modern music. During the evening prizes for novelty dances were given by Dr Bell, Mr C.J.Pickett, M.C., Mr Braithwaite, Mr Pacey, Mr E Beeson and the Misses Braithwaite and Robinson.

The MC’s were Captain J. Middleton, Walker, Mr Philip Brocklesby, Mr N. Hulley, Dr D.N.Bell and Dr D.T.Clark and the refreshment. Arrangements were in charge of the ambulance nurses under the supervision of the lady superintendent Mrs Cooke.

The committee, which consisted of the MC’s, together with Mr and Mrs E Beeson, Mr and Mrs C.J.Pickett, the Misses I and S Braithwaite, Mr T Smethurs,t and Mr M Robinson, are to be congratulated on organising such a successful effort, which should appreciably swell the local Spitfire fund.
