Conisborough Co-operative Society, Ltd.
Half Yearly Meeting
The second half-yearly meeting of the members was held on Monday evening at the society’s stores, in High street, when there was a very fair attendance of members present.
The president. Mr. R. Wimpenny, occupied the chair. The secretary (Mr. F. Fisher) read the report and balance for the last half-year, which showed the society to be in a very flourishing condition. The sales had increased very considerably, and after paying interest on members’ share capital, allowing for depreciation, and adding to the reserve fund, the committee were enabled to pay a dividend of two shillings and threepence in the pound. (12 ½ %)
This was considered highly satisfactorily and Mr. Wimpennny moved that the report and balance-sheet be adopted. This proposal was carried unanimously.
The following were the elected officers for the ensuing year:—Secretary, Mr. F. Fisher; treasurer. Mr. John A. Simpson; Mr. G. H. Elliott, the retiring auditor, was re-elected; Messrs. George Singleton, George Briggs, J. Crossland and Wimpenny, retiring committee-men, were re-elected; and Mr. William Small and Mr J H Rawding were added to the committee in place of Mr. and Mr. Hirst, who retire.
It is intended to have, very shortly, a public tea and concert in connection with society.
