Housing Tenders Show Difference of £9,000.
” It is the best illustration I have had of a decrease in anything yet,” remarked Mr. H C. Harrison, chairman of the Conisborough Urban Council, last night, in reference to tenders for the erection of Council houses.
Forty-one tenders had been received, several for £5OO a house, for all types. The lowest tender for one type of house, was £425 .
The usual clause in respect to variations in costs would be inserted in the contracts, which meant it was possible there would be a further reduction still.
For the 32 houses the Council propose to build, there was a difference between the highest and lowest tenders of £9,000.
