Wedding – Harrison & Webster
The wedding took place at St. Peter’s Church. Fairfield, Buxton, of Miss Valda Harrison, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Harrison, of Haddon Road, Victoria Park, Buxton, and Mr. Gordon C. F. Webster, of the Lord Conyers Hotel, Conisbrough.
The service was choral.
Given away by her father, the bride was attired in a dress of pale blue figured cloche, with hat of the same material, blue veil, and navy shoes and white gloves. She wore a spray of pink carnations and carried an ivory Prayer Book. Miss Daisy Timms was bridesmaid, and chose a dress of dusty pink figured cloche with navy accessories and a spray of anemones.
L/Sgt. Dennis Gibb and Bmdr. Ronald F. King, were best man and groomsman respectively.
The bride’s mother was attired in a royal blue tailored woollen dress with accessories to match, while the mother of the bridegroom wore a pale grey costume, silver fox fur, with navy hat, gloves and shoes. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a gold wristlet watch, while to the bridesmaid he presented a gold pendant and chain. When the couple left for their honeymoon the bride was attired in a grey coat, navy tailored woollen dress, with navy hat, gloves and shoes. The bridegroom has been in the Forces since the outbreak of war, and received a tea service and case of cutlery from colleagues in the Royal Artillery.
His father is a well-known local business man, host of the Lord Conyers Hotel, Section Commander of the Conisbrough Special Constabulary, and a prominent Freemason.
