Died From Wounds.
Much sympathy has been expressed with Mrs. Lee, of 4. Thrybergh Terrace, Denaby, in the sad news she has received of the death of her young husband from war wounds.
Pte. Alf. Lee (28) was called up about 2 1/2 years ago, and had been in the Middle East for about 12 months. A short time ago a telegram was received to say that he had been wounded on March 21st and was on the danger list. Later a letter was received to say he was now on the way to recovery.
Afterwards Mrs. Lee received a letter from her husband to say he was doing well, and then last Thursday evening came the telegram to say he had died in hospital.
Pte. Lee was well known in the locality, and the sad news of his death was a shock to the family and to all who knew him.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Lee, of Old Denaby and last Sunday afternoon a memorial service was held in the little village church, attended by the widow and all the members of the family and friends.
The Rev. E. H. P Rawlins, Vicar of Mexborough, conducted the service at which about 90 people attended.
