Food Committee

At Monday’s meeting of the Food Committee, Mr, R. Dunn, Food Executive Officer, informed the committee that it would not now be necessary for a trader to have a separate licence in respect of a mobile van if the trader was carrying on business from fixed licensed premises.

Mr. R. H. Shephard said he hoped that the interests of Conisbrough and Denaby traders would be watched when licences were granted to hawkers.

Mr. Dunn reported that since the last meeting the rationalisation of milk distribution had been put into operation and although there were one or two loose ends the scheme had worked with remarkable success and he considered it a tribute to the retailers and consumers that he had only had to deal with two complaints, and that in each of these cases, his explanation had given satisfaction to the complainants.

It was reported that from April 18th cod liver oil in tablet form would be available for expectant mothers who are also allowed one bottle of fruit juice every ten days, and in this connection the committee are trying to find more convenient distributing centres.
