Guiseley No Match for Denaby.

DenabyUnited had an overwhelming 8-0 victory over Guiseley, the amateur team, who stand pretty well in their own leagues. Denaby’s ‘persistence and dash, and the surety of their combination were things against which Guiseley’s sporting side fluttered in vain. Hemp, helped by Hamilton, was continually prominent from the moment when, after three minutes play, he got Denaby’s first goal. Speedily he followed it by another, and immediately before half-time Cowan (centre-half) scored from a penalty kick. Taylor, the United’s left back, was hurt early on, but returned and out his team “square” after the interval.

A dash on resuming saw Guiseley’s brightest minute during the match. It was turned when Kemp sent in a merciless drive which precluded any possibility of Coyle clearing. Godfrey next, and then Hamilton, added their quota to the score, whilst Godfrey piled on two more goals. Guiseley’s goalkeeper, Coyle, in adverse circumstances, deserved the applause.
